4. Wolfmother
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZDg_MLmp7M When Wolfmother released their debut album in 2006, their refreshing take on classic heavy metal and hard rock set the alternative music world alight because it was something not many bands were partaking in amidst the height of the indie rock phenomena of the noughties. This modern classic, first effort exemplifies much of what these now ten year veterans are all about - loud, heavy guitar riffage, wailing vocal peaks and crashing drum wallops. Despite line-up changes and some four years later, the band released Cosmic Egg in 2009, an album with highlights such as the smashing, premonition powerhouse 'New Moon Rising' and the psych rock, roller coaster 'Cosmonaut'. After yet another split, their 2014 comeback album New Crown was a continuation of the thick slabs of rhythm heavy delights that we have come to know and love about the coven obsessed, three-piece. They may have lost some steam due to lengthy hiatuses but Wolfmother still show that they can more than keep up with the new breed. The hard rock outfit are just about to release their fourth LP Victorious, a record that will most likely take their hardened fanbase into another dimension. Key Tracks: White Unicorn, Colossal, New Moon Rising, Cosmic Egg, Victorious
