10 Successful Rock Acts Who Never Had A US Number 1
4. The Who - 100 Million Albums Sold
Our number 4 entry is possibly the most interesting entry on the list. The total number of albums sold by the hard rocking English lads The Who has been told to be anywhere between 27 and 100 million. So, for the sake of this article and because The Who is pretty much my favorite rock band of all time we are going with the high end of the spectrum and calling it an even 100 million sold.
One thing that can not be debated is the fact that unlike their British invasion counterparts The Beatles and the Rolling Stones, The Who do not have a number one hit on their resume.
With legendary tunes, like My Generation, The Seeker, Baba O’Reilly, Behind Blue Eyes and Who are You their only brush with the top of the singles chart is 1967’s classic I Can See For Miles, which barely broke into the top ten and eventually stuck at number 9.
