10 Surprising Details You Didn't Know About The Killers
6. They Originally Formed Through An Advertisement
You truly never know where your "it" moment will come from. It could be through connections you never knew you had, being in the right place at the right time, or hell, even through your local advertisements.
After being inspired to go into the music industry by an Oasis concert, Flowers went looking for other similar musicians. This eventually lead him to a newspaper ad for starting a band by the soon-to-be lead guitarist of The Killers Dave Keuning. Influences on the ad included Oasis, the very band that made Flowers want to do music, making it right up his alley. They immediately hit it off and started writing music together in Keuning's apartment.
Drummer Matt Norcross soon joined the band and the trio went to the Nevada based recording studio Kill The Messenger Studio to record a couple of tracks. It wasn't too long until Dell Neal, Keuning's roommate, went on to join as well. The foursome quickly began preforming shows at small time venues and coffee shops in the Las Vegas area.
Nothing gold can last however and Norcross was let go from the band for unknown reasons, while Neal left due to personal issues. Soon though, drummer Ronnie Vannucci and bassist Mark Stoermer filled the empty spots and The Killers were born.
