10 Surprising Music Videos You Never Expected From The Song
8. Conversation 16 - The National
From their first studio album in 2001 to their more recent collaborations with artists like Bon Iver and Taylor Swift, The National have proudly flown the flag for the indie rock genre and have established themselves as some of the finest crafters of songs of the modern age.
For their fifth album High Violet, the band released a number of singles including one entitled Conversation 16. On it, lead singer Matt Berninger muses over the troubled state of a family and wonders outloud whether he is a good person.
All pretty intense stuff, which you would miss entirely if you just watched the video with no sound on.
For this creative endeavour, the band secured the services of actors Kristen Schaal and John Slattery. Schaal plays a bored, childlike version of the US President, whilst Slattery is the Secret Service agent who is actually in love with her.

The video is really funny and both big names obviously bring the good stuff, but that doesn't mean we all weren't a little bit confused when we first saw it.
