10 Surprising Music Videos You Never Expected From The Song
7. Pumping On Your Stereo - Supergrass
Originally from Oxford in merry old England, Supergrass were formed in 1993 and achieved huge success both at home and abroad.
You'll know them for tracks like Alright, Going Out, and Mary, but anyone with a fear of puppets will remember them for causing weeks of sleepless nights with this bizarre video.
Pumping on Your Stereo was the lead single from the band's 1999 self-titled album. When it came to the video for the track, the band sought the services of director and producer Garth Jennings and Nick Goldsmith - better known as Hammer & Tongs.
The duo went all out when it came to weirdness in this film, popping the band's heads on top of horrible puppet-type things with grossly elongated limbs. There's also a felt guitar with a mouth that is a pure therapy-starter.
You don't need to be told that the song itself isn't actually about giant puppets. No song is about giant puppets, or at least they shouldn't be.
Whilst pop music is full of weird and wacky music videos, few create quite the same sense of unease as this one.
The puppets will look for you, and they will find.
