10 Surprising Music Videos You Never Expected From The Song

4. Steal My Girl - One Direction

You don't need to be a seasoned analyser of literature to understand what One Direction are singing about on their 2014 song Steal My Girl.

It's about how jealous they feel about other men advancing on their ladies and what they're going to do to stop that from happening. Easy peasy. Job done.

Trying to work out what the hell is going on in the video, that's a much harder task.

It opens on our five heroes emerging from a metal trailer in the middle of a desert. They're then confronted by... Danny DeVito? What's he doing here? Are The Gang about to turn up and assault Louis Tomlinson?

What actual transpires is even weirder than that. DeVito, playing the video's director, says that the group need to lose their inhibitions in order to create real art.

How does he suggest they do that? By fighting some sumo wrestlers, playing around with a chimpanzee, and wearing some potentially problematic traditional African dress.

When it all comes together, the video is a nice slice of off-the-wall fun. The only disappointing thing about it is that the song kinda sucks.
