10 Surprisingly Heavy Songs By Non-Metal Bands

9. Battle Of One – 30 Seconds To Mars

30 Seconds to Mars aren’t known for their riffs, and their recent albums have been rather lacking when it comes to the rockier aspect of their sound.

‘Battle of One’, on the other hand, puts the guitar front and centre. Whilst it isn’t an all-out metal track, the various riffs utilised are far from bland. And the slightly chaotic drumming style during the instrumental section is also a standout.

Jared Leto utilises a clean vocal tone during the choruses, but he certainly doesn’t hold back when it comes to screaming. Indeed, the song accumulates with crashing symbols and several gut-wrenching screams from Leto.

If you’re feeling let down by the band’s more recent, pop-influenced sound, ‘Battle of One’ is a great way to remind yourself how heavy 30 Seconds to Mars are capable of being.
