10 Terrible Rock Bands With One Incredible Album
6. Crazy Horses - The Osmonds
And this is the point in the list where most of the hardcore rock fans start to tune me out. How on the Earth is a group like The Osmonds considered to have anything worthwhile in them? Even though this is the kind of music that seems designed for the teenybopper crowd, a funny thing happens when you start to actually grow up.
Once the sounds of something like One Bad Apple started to wane, the more mature version of The Osmonds on Crazy Horses is a welcome change of pace. From the sounds of the first few songs, you would never guess that you were listening to a piece of '70s cheese, with the sounds of a prog rock-style organ and a guitar riff that's actually got a bit of teeth to it. Since this was also around the time where Donnie's voice was changing, letting the other brothers sing gives this album a lot more grit.
When they do go for the high notes though, it's not the kind of squeaky clean things that your mom loved to jam to back in the day. For a second, you'd swear that someone turned the dial and put on something like Deep Purple. And since this record has fans in people like Paul Gilbert and Joe Elliott from Def Leppard, it definitely deserves a little bit of hype in the rock conversation.
