10 Terrible Rock Bands With One Incredible Album
5. Night Visions - Imagine Dragons
Wasn't it a much better time before the alternative rock scene was anything else but Imagine Dragons? I mean, if you really think about it, Imagine Dragons have basically stripped all of their rock skin off in the past few years and traded it in for some of the most milquetoast pop beats into their sound. Which is a shame considering the first record actually showed some real promise.
Granted, that's not to say that Night Visions is a masterpiece from top to bottom. From the production alone, you can tell that this thing was made in the early 2010s, down to the processed beats on some songs. From a songwriting perspective though, there are a lot of gems on here, with Dan Reynolds actually showing some promise as a vocalist before shoving his voice into a synthesizer on songs like Believer later.
And without breaking anybody's hearts, the best songs on here tend to be the singles, especially the build that comes with a song like It's Time or Radioactive. For the past few years, Imagine Dragons have always been trying to push themselves to sound just a little bit bigger than they were before. If they'd have gone back to their very first try though, they already had the capacity to be something gigantic.
