10 Terrible Rock Bands With One Incredible Album
4. Cracked Rearview - Hootie and the Blowfish
Not every band that fills this list is the absolute worst of the worst. Because if there's one thing that music fans have argued about for years, it's the difference between being outright bad and just too boring to listen to. Though Hootie and the Blowfish's last few albums feel more like background music these days, they certainly hit the ground running on that first album.
And it would seem like a lot of people would agree, with Cracked Rearview being one of the best selling albums of the '90s, which is a decade that also includes the Bodyguard soundtrack and Nirvana's Nevermind. So why did this little bar band relate with so many people? Well, it turns out that their style fit perfectly in any kind of genre that you could think of. Outside of their bar band roots, their mix of Americana and rock managed to rope in every stripe of rock fan.
That's before you even get around to the fact that Darius Rucker can sing his ass off, especially when going for broke on the more emotional cuts on here like Let Her Cry. If life were a sitcom, this is what would happen if a band like Mouserat from Parks and Rec actually managed to hit it big. It's cheesy on pretty much all fronts, but this is the kind of music that many a dad will be able to rock out to later down the line.
