10 Terrible Songs By Great Artists
4. F*ck Time - Green Day
Even though rock seemed to be on life support around the '00s, Green Day were still one of the main bands leading the charge. Off of the strength of American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, there was at least room for the pop-friendly side of rock to still find its way onto the charts. Then the Trilogy happened and the band lost the rest of their goodwill.
Across every one of the Uno Dos and Tre albums, it's obvious that Billie Joe Armstrong is on autopilot with his songwriting, even when trying to reach for garage rock tendencies on Dos and grandiosity on Tre. Though Uno at least had a handful of decent tracks to start everything off, the second instalment faceplants right out of the gate with F*ck Time, complete with lyrics that sound like they were written by those who would need to have sex explained to them.
As much musical ground as Green Day have covered in their career, the sleazy sex jam is not really something they can pull off as effectively as odes to masturbation like on Longview. Even though they tried to mulligan out of this one by calling it a Foxoboro Hot Tubs song in disguise, that just makes the track look even worse. For Green Day, this is bad; for Foxboro Hot Tubs, this is one of the most disappointing tracks imaginable.
