10 Terrible Songs That ALMOST RUINED Great Albums

2. Quiet on The Set - NWA

There's a lot of foundations of modern hip hop that people forget about when listening to Straight Outta Compton by NWA. Whereas the first wave of hip hop was hard for what it was, this was the first time a rap crew ever felt truly dangerous, with Eazy E, Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube kicking ass and taking names on almost every single track here. When you've gone that hard for an entire record though, the steam is bound to run out sooner or later.

Despite having some more playful moments on the record like Compton's N the House and Express Yourself, Quiet on The Set doesn't really feel like a proper comedown from the rest of the record. Compared to something like If It Ain't Ruff or F*** the Police, this song almost feels like a project that Dre was working on in the studio that somehow made the final cut.

Considering the natural flow of an album like this, Quiet on the Set just makes the rest of the record feel a little bit hollow, as if they had a few bulletproof songs and then thought that that would be enough to last for the rest of the record. By the standards of the most dangerous hip hop collective to ever walk the Earth, this is one of the few times where that edginess feels just a touch half-hearted.
