10 Things You Didn't Know About Lemmy

5. He Started Out As Jimi Hendrix's Roadie

Before Motorhead and before Hawkwind, Lemmy was so enamoured with the music industry that he just wanted to be a part of it, any way he could. As such, he managed to land a gig as a roadie for both Emerson, Lake & Palmer and the Jimi Hendrix Experience, leaving a mark on both. For the former, he gave one of his prized possessions - a salvaged Nazi knife - to keyboardist Keith Emerson, who used it in performances to hold certain keys down, before tuning guitars and 'prepping explosions' for Hendrix's sporadically-used pyrotechnics. How insanely awesome is that? Going from crafting fireworks for Jimi Hendrix, to fronting one of the most legendary bands of all time? There'll never be another person in history who can replicate such a path.
