10 Things You Didn't Know About The Black Keys

9. They Don't Have A Love-Hate Relationship With Spotify

There's no love involved. Just hate. A good portion of the band's discography is available on Spotify, but their more recent output (El Camino and Turn Blue in particular) remains notably absent. Reportedly, Auerbach and Carney disagree with the way artists are paid for the amount that their content is streamed, citing similar reasons to the likes of Thom Yorke and Taylor Swift for keeping their tunes offline. Not one to mince his words, Carney in particular has been vocal about his disagreements, even going so far as to call Spotify board member and Napster founder Sean Parker "an asshole". It's perhaps a fair appraisal for someone who has "$2 billion that he made from figuring out ways to steal royalties from artists". The Keys have said that all of their music will eventually appear on Spotify, but not until they deem it fair to artists.
