10 Things You Never Knew About Green Day

7. They Were Once A Foursome

It's no secret that Green Day is much more than just a power trio on stage these days. Growing into their rockstar selves, the current incarnation is a practical extravaganza of talent on display, with additional guitarists, keyboards, and saxophone players being fixtures at their gigs. Other than the added instrumentation, the actual studio incarnation has always come back to just the three main members...until the 2010's.

In one of the stranger career moves that they had taken on, Green Day expanded their core lineup into a foursome when Jason White was brought on as an official member of the band. Though White had been a staple at Green Day gigs ever since the Warning era, it would be interesting to see what he brought to the table on their new records. On the other hand, his first step up to the plate with the Uno Dos Tre trilogy seemed mediocre at best, with no real opportunities for him to show his playing.

After they recovered from the trilogy and Armstrong got out of rehab, it seemed like Jason could finally show his stuff, only to step down from his position once he announced he was battling tongue cancer. While he has since recovered and remains an amazing presence on the live stage whenever Green Day takes to the road, hopefully the door isn't closed for White to continue as an actual musical contributor to Green Day.
