7. Iron Maiden Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (1988)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_7vwC0cV6c This album, the seventh album from everyone's favourite metal band Iron Maiden obviously had to be in seventh place. Not only did the release of this remarkably well-written and perfectly executed LP mark a true progression of sound and song structuring for the band, but was actually their first to feature any kind of consistent theme or concept. Taking influence from the literature of American writer Orson Scott Card, the Irons pursue the idea of a mystical seventh born son being blessed with a range of astonishing abilities. It's all very progressive. Which surely makes it worth a listen, as since when have Iron Maiden been in any way prog?
