10 Times Fans Saved Imperfect Albums
8. Untitled Nirvana Project - Nirvana
You can only really judge an imperfect album in retrospect. While it may feel right in the moment, it's hard to look back and see the potential that the band had before it all went sideways. It's one thing to see the imperfections in mainstream albums, but what about albums that we never even got?
Not long before Kurt Cobain took his own life in 1994, Nirvana were settling into a groove and beginning to compile material for their next album. Though the tone seemed to be more democratic this time around, Cobain's untimely passing shut the door on any future Nirvana projects.
We may only have "You Know You're Right" as a proper release from these sessions, but skeptics have been speculating on what that record would sound like to this day.
It has gone under many different aliases, but the 4th entry in Nirvana's studio album catalog has turned into one of the most interesting case studies in music history, as fans assemble albums with B-sides and rarities from the band's final chapter as a potential offering.
Considering the more equal role of the band members, fans have even rearranged some of Dave Grohl's first Foo Fighters sketches as Nirvana cuts. Cobain's 4th studio record will never truly see the light of day, but at the time of writing, these bootleg and demo sessions have been a gift that keeps on giving.
