10 Times People Died Inside During Awkward Interviews
7. The Bee Gees On Clive Anderson Talks Back
Surely the BeeGees were briefed on the type of interviewer Clive Anderson was before going on his show?
When they appeared on Clive Anderson Talks Back in 1997, the British interviewer was clearly pushing it a bit with his constant joking about the band's Saturday Night Fever era, with all of its bell-bottoms and castrato vocal stylings, but it was all in good humour.
Anderson actually manages to get quite a bit of interesting bits of info from the Gibb brothers about their early years in England and Australia, but it's clear the brothers would have liked to talk at length about their achievements rather than taking jabs and moving on to the next laugh.
As the banter gets more and more snippy, things suddenly take a clear turn when the oldest of the three brothers, Barry, takes offence to one of Anderson's jokes about how the band's early name, Les Tosseurs, has become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
From there, Barry looks visibly annoyed and then walks off after a few more jokes at the brothers' expense. It ends with Maurice struggling to get his lapel microphone off while Anderson and his entire studio audience takes a trip to cringe city.
