10 Times People Died Inside During Awkward Interviews

6. Rivers Cuomo Of Weezer

It's hard to imagine that the guy who wrote the lyrics "I wonder how you touch yourself and curse myself" could ever feel discomfort about exposing himself to embarrassment.

When Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo went on Australia's ABC TV for an interview on the show Recovery, it could not have been any more painful, though. The brutal interaction was taped during the band's Australian tour of their critically acclaimed (but not so much at the time) sophomore album Pinkerton.

It starts off pretty badly when host Dylan Lewis introduces the singer as "River Weezer." Cuomo doesn't correct him, but proceeds to mumble answers in mumbled single syllables.

His excuse is that the band is "still a little sleepy from jet lag," to which Lewis sarcastically replies: "Really? I can't tell." When Cuomo says being a rockstar is an easier job than some others he has had, Lewis complains that his job hosting the show isn't as easy.

At one point, an unidentified crew member comes into the frame and hands Cuomo a cheery little bunch of flowers.

Watch as they wilt in pure agony.
