10 Times Rock Musicians Appeared On Other Artists' Albums

5. Tom Petty - Bella Donna (Stevie Nicks)

When Tom Petty passed away in 2017, it sent shockwaves through the world of music. Stevie Nicks in particular remarked that her heart would never heal from the news. A fitting statement to make, given the name of his backing band. Their working relationship was also key to helping launch Stevie Nicks' solo career.

The recording of Bella Donna was an intermittent process while Nicks had commitments to the recording process of Fleetwood Mac's 12th studio album Tusk. Although the majority of the work was her own, the album personal list contained some of the biggest names in rock, with several members of the Eagles joining her in studio.

Her track Edge of Seventeen might have been the most well known single off the album, immortalised forever by Jack Black's enchanting rendition in School Of Rock, but the track Stop Draggin' My Heart Around garnered massive airplay also.

Originally it had been intended to be a Heartbreakers track, but was offered to Nicks when Tom Petty's people thought it sounded to effeminate for a male vocalist to take the lead.

The Heartbreakers performed the music and Petty contributed vocal layers to the song, but it was Nicks who brought it to life.
