10 Times Rock Musicians Appeared On Other Artists' Albums

6. Jack White - Lemonade (Beyoncé)

Despite Jack White's reputation for getting into some pretty high profile disputes, he managed to stay on the right side of the Beyoncé/ Jay-Z feud.

When Lemonade was released in 2016, it was a mic drop moment for Beyoncé. Pulling in elements from all manor of genres, from soul and funk, to rock and electronic, dealing with subjects such as femininity, infidelity, the black experience and most notably her lambasting of Jay-Z for his supposed cheating.

It was another example of musicians knowing how and when to use guest appearances in the most impactful way.

Although White only sang a number of lines in the track Don't Hurt Yourself, his vocal presence was no less impactful, giving resonance to Beyoncé expressions of self-assured independence as she not so subtly slammed Jay-Z for straying outside of their marital bed.

As well as providing several lines of vocals, White produced the track, and you can hear the similarities in the way he used samples to create the melodies, with the sounds he was creating on his solo projects at the time.

The swagger of Jack White's take on blues rock set the scene for the power of Beyoncé's lyrics and her unapologetically confident vocals.
