10 Tragic Deaths That Rocked The Music Industry

8. Chester Bennington - Linkin Park

As much as people might not like to admit it, Linkin Park was a lot different than what the other nu metal bands were mining in the early '00s. Even though the mix of rap and rock had been going on since the days of Korn, there was something painfully honest about Chester Bennington's lyrics, as if he was releasing demons from his soul every time he sang. Little did we know just how much of that pain was being held inside.

Once Linkin Park started to get more and more famous, Chester became much more outspoken about his problems with mental health and how dangerous it was for him to be in his own head all the time. After coming off of the mixed reviews of the band's next album One More Light, Bennington was dealt another heavy blow with the passing of his longtime friend Chris Cornell.

Though he always came back on the other side stronger, the pain became too much for Chester to bare, leading to his suicide in the summer of 2017, leaving legions of fans heartbroken. That's not how people should remember how Chester left us though. This man was the reason why many people were able to conquer their own demons, so it's only fitting that we remember him for the amazing music he created.
