His (currently going by he/him pronouns, has used different pronouns throughout his career) musical influences range from Lil Kim to GG Allin to Kathleen Hanna and the inspiration certainly shows throughout his work. Being a queer musician in an often boringly bigoted world of music tends to require the musician in question to fight for validity, and Blanco is fighting from the start. His intensity demands your attention. He will either dash any notions of simple camp or be as campy as possible if you expect something dull. His albums are exercises in fluidity from a gender perspective as well as a musical perspective and they never let up.
