A tight record, full of surprisingly deep lyrics and infectious melodies, it is a total must-listen. Although perhaps a little on the 'light' side for some alt-rock fans (it is their poppiest sounding album), it's great and their eighties stuff, particularly In My Tribe and Blind Man's Zoo, are also excellent. At one point poised to be the 'next big thing', 10,000 Maniacs are a band that has been somewhat forgotten about, which is a real shame. Where Are They Now: Still touring and making records, minus lead singer Natlie Merchant (who was replaced by Mary Ramsey after she left the band to pursue a solo career) and guitarists Rob Buck, who died in 2000.
