10 Underrated Albums By Legendary Bands
1. The Kind Of Limbs - Radiohead
Over the years, Radiohead have proven themselves to be the grand wizards of experimental rock. From their guitar-driven dystopian visions on Ok Computer to the electronic freakouts of albums like Kid A and Amnesiac, the band has defined the meaning of what it means to be an "alternative" rock band. While it's expected that the band would experiment, people tend to look back on the King of Limbs with apprehension.
With a short track list and meandering tracks, this tends to get brought up when talking about the band's worst material. However, the actual tunes on display here are still some of the most adventurous in the band's catalog. Their attempts at blending ambient and trance-like music on songs like "Bloom" are pretty hypnotic, while "Lotus Flower" shows the band's brilliant use of melody (along with Thom Yorke's endlessly meme'd dancing.)
Where this album shines best is during the more subdued moments, with "Codex" holding up as one of the most gorgeous piano ballads they have ever made. Though fans may not have catered to the studio recordings, the band's live performances of this material has proven to be spellbinding as well. This album could have benefited from a few touch ups here and there, but the results are still a decent Radiohead release that could be any lesser band's masterpiece.
