10 Underrated Hard Rock Songs Of The '90s

2. Headshrinker - Oasis

Oasis are not typically everyone's first pick for a hard rock band. The Gallagher Brothers certainly had a hand in bringing the Britpop rock and roll scene to the world in the mid '90s, but there wasn't anything too outlandish that set them apart from just regular classic rock bands. That is...until we heard "Headshrinker."

Originally issued as a B-side, this song is one of the most ferocious cuts Noel Gallagher had ever penned, with every single amplifier cranked to its limit. As opposed to all the Beatles comparisons that have followed the band around for years, this is the one song by the band that feels more in line with a group like the Sex Pistols, with Liam Gallagher giving one of his most vicious vocal performances on record.

Granted, there's not a ton of bells and whistles going on in this song, but that's what gives it its power. By stripping away all of the gimmicks and effects from their arsenal, Oasis still held together as one of the most intense rock and roll bands that Britain had ever seen. Though each brother has turned to more mellow material as of late, maybe the time is now to plug in and rattle the floors like this again.
