10 Underrated Musicians In Legendary Bands

3. George Harrison - The Beatles

Ever since the end of the '60s, it's pretty much impossible to consider anything associated with the Beatles to be underrated. For as long as rock has been part of the cultural zeitgeist, the works of John Lennon and Paul McCartney have been informing the background of our lives and will probably continue until the end of time. When you're in a band that big though, sometimes it hurts to be considered the quiet one.

As far back as the early days of the Fab Four, George Harrison always seemed to be looked at as the little brother of the Beatles, being just a few years younger than the rest and never really singing outside of a handful of tunes whenever they played live. Once they started to progress further, Harrison turned himself into one of the greatest melody writers of the group, even showing up Lennon and McCartney on their own songs like the lead lick to And I Love Her or the sitar of Norwegian Wood.

By the time that they reached the end of their tenure, George's writing seemed to be on par with John and Paul, making some of the most celebrated material of their later catalog like While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Something. While his solo career was not as celebrated as much as his contemporaries, George Harrison is one of the few musicians to gain worldwide recognition and somehow deserve even more.
