10 Unusual Music Collaborations That Should've Never Worked

6. Blue & Elton John - Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word

This should never have worked. Never. Blue was one of most popular British boy bands of the early 2000s. How on Earth were they going to even shine a light to one of Elton John’s very best songs? As well has have the man himself appear on the song?

Thankfully this modern reinterpretation is not a car crash. In fact, it’s a respectable and well put together collaboration. Tasteful and simple modern RnB drums and bass are added and the tempo is slightly increased. The boys from Blue provide what is probably their best vocal performances on a song as well, which is needed when you’re performing side by side to a living legend.

The song was already successful prior to this of course. It cracked the Billboard Top 10 in America and reached number 11 in the UK. However the version with Blue managed to peak at the very top of the UK charts, no doubt sparking a newfound interest in Elton John amongst Blue’s hoard of teenage fans.

This one was definitely a win for all involved.
