You're not going to find too many post grunge bands who are still going strong past the year 2010. Ever since bands like Nickelback and Trapt ended up going waaay out of style, the rest of their respective careers tend to be a wasteland of forgettable material with nothing really to salvage. So how is Thrice one of the few bands that actually seems to be getting better and better?
Not that they weren't great on their own merit in the first place. For the early '00s, albums like Illusion of Safety and Artist in the Ambulance had some of the freshest guitar oriented rock of its day. It's just that this new era of the band seems to be on an upward curve again. From 2016's To Be Everywhere is to Be Nowhere onward, Thrice have been settling into a decent hard rock groove, as Dustin Kensrue's vocals get more and more raw and ragged as the years go on.
Though most artists kill to get this kind of sound right once in their career, no one can claim to get it twice like Thrice has. Who knows? Maybe this next album will live up to their namesake and actually blow our minds for a third go around.
