10 Weirdest Cover Songs In Rock Music History

7. Super Bowl Medley - Prince

Anyone thinking of ranking Super Bowl performances is going to have to give competition for who was the second best. From the moment that Prince stepped on the playing field back in the day, every sports fan was tuning into a Prince concert instead of the actual game that was being played. In between the amazing Prince classics and the rain pouring down, he even managed to pay tribute to some friends in those few minutes on the air.

In between going through songs like Let's Go Crazy, Prince launched into a medley of different classic songs, blowing up Bob Dylan's All Along the Watchtower to Hendrix proportions yet again. Considering this is also the same guy who turned While My Guitar Gently Weeps inside out, you're pretty much expecting the unexpected, which got even crazier when he dropped the lyrics of Dylan's classic to put bits and pieces of the Foo Fighters' Best of You into the mix as well.

If anything, this is a testament to the kind of performer that Prince always was when he was on this Earth. No matter if he was playing his own stuff or taking on the mantle of his idols, it was going to always come out in an authentically Purple way. For everyone in the stands and watching at home, this was a kind of religious musical experience that doesn't come around that often in rock and roll.
