10 Weirdest David Bowie Songs

5. Bring Me The Disco King - Reality (2003)

The second entry on this list to contain a weird and wonderful piano part from Mike Garson, Bring Me The Disco King had a long and troubled history before it was released on 2003's Reality album.

Originally recorded for 1993's Black Tie White Noise, then discarded and recorded for 1997's Earthling and also again discarded, the song finally found a home on Reality. The piece is built around a drum loop from Bowie drummer Matt Chamberlain and the avant-garde piano playing of Garson.

At seven minutes in length, despite its sparse instrumentation of just piano, bass, drums, and vocals, it is a song filled to the brim with different ideas and melodies throughout. In true Mike Garson fashion, the piano part is extremely wild and varied, containing an off the wall memorable solo, this time experimenting with leaving space and creating a mood rather than the frantic chaos of Aladdin Sane.

Bring Me The Disco King also received an interesting remix in 2003 for the film Underworld, featuring an array of famous faces including Maynard James Keenan of Tool and John Frusciante of The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
