10 Worst Closing Songs On Great Albums

1. Stupidmop - Pearl Jam

As much as Pearl Jam may have had a complicated relationship with fame, not even their diehards were ready for something like Vitalogy when they first picked it up. Almost being a quantum leap from their original sound, this album feels like Eddie Vedder making weird music to shake off the media attention that the band had gone through over the past few years. That weirdness does end up giving the album a bit of character though, outside of the final song on the track listing.

Right after the album logically ends on the ballad Immortality, here comes Stupid Mop, serving as an avant garde art piece made by Eddie as he was putting the record together. While also being the first appearance of drummer Jack Irons on the project, this whole thing feels like a mess from the minute that it starts, adding up to 7 minutes of what sounds like the band trying to jam as a sample of a girl's voice comes in and out of the mix at fairly random times.

Since every other album that they made ended off with a ballad though, this might have just been a way to shake things up at the end of the record, only to leave most of the hardcore fans shaking their heads and some of them doing their best trying to defend it as a work of genius. While Pearl Jam are taking to the road in the near future, don't expect this to become a main part of the setlist any time soon.
