10 Worst Closing Songs On Great Albums
5. Oh Love - Green Day
Okay...so it's probably a stretch for some Green Day fans to even call Uno a great album. If we're looking at the trilogy as a whole though, there were a lot of good ideas on the first outing, taking the elements of power pop that the band had loved when they were young and trying their hand at that. Things did need to be changed in the track listing though, especially when it came to that first single.
Not only is Oh Love not a great closer on Uno...it might be one of the worst tracks on the album. From the moment that it starts, the song barely steps out of first gear, just settling into a midtempo groove and not really going anywhere outside of the usual Green Day formula. If anything, this feels like it should be a comedown track that happens in the middle of the album, and definitely not the first taste of what we were in for with the project.
For most Green Day fans, we might be in for a Kendrick Lamar Damn style situation where the start of the album might work a lot better as the finale, with the countdown of Nuclear Family leaving the entire record off on a high note. What we ended up getting though was an album that roared to life right out of the gate and then slowed down to a crawl by the time we reached the end.
