10 Worst Debut Albums By Amazing Rock Artists

3. Leisure - Blur

At the height of the Britpop movement in mid-'90s Britain, Blur could do no wrong.

A group of middle-class Southern kids in a working-class genre, Blur stood out thanks to their irreverent, ironic take on indie rock, and are still worshipped as gods by many of their fans today.

All this, even with an absolute shocker of a debut.

Leisure came out in 1991 and didn't do too badly in terms of sales. It shifted enough copies to earn the band a gold record and their first ever UK top ten.

In terms of quality though, this record is anything but golden.

Like so many other albums on this list, Leisure suffers from a lack of experience. Blur just haven't found their style yet, which it makes really hard to invest in their output.

Also, some of the lyrics absolutely suck.

If you want a second opinion, then ask Blur's frontman Damon Albarn. In a 2007 interview with Far Out, he called Leisure one of two bad albums he's made in his entire career.

Now, you could take that as a sign that Albarn needs to get his ego in check, or that this record isn't worth your time.
