10 Worst Final Albums In Rock

8. Coda - Led Zeppelin

The end of Led Zeppelin can really be traced back to the tragic death of John Bonham. After a night of heavy drinking, Bonzo was found unresponsive the next morning, bringing the beating heart behind the greatest rock band in the world to a halt. Though the rest of the guys gathered what was left to do their fallen mate proud, Coda is where things start to go off the rails.

As it stands, most of this compilation album is nothing more than a few choice odds and ends that didn't cut the mustard for a proper Led Zeppelin album. Though there are some highlights like Walter's Walk and an amazing drum showcase on Bonzo's Montreux, you can really tell that this kind of thing was thrown together rather than carefully executed. It's also a shame considering that with a little more polish, these tracks would have made for great later-period Zeppelin cuts had Bonzo not left us so soon.

Whereas most other Led Zeppelin albums feel like the band had captured lightning in a bottle across every track, these cuts just feel like the band trying to put the finishing touches on these cuts before calling it a career. Aside from a one-off reunion show and a few live gigs coming out as of late, this is probably the last hope Zeppelin fans have for any new material.
