10 Worst Hard Rock Albums Ever Made
7. Evolve - Imagine Dragons
It's sad when you look back at all the potential that Imagine Dragons had towards the beginning of their career. With the release of their first EP and album Night Visions, the band had all the makings of a good rock band, but just needed the right amount of polish and muscle to back up their material. Evolve certainly showed the polish, but any muscle this band had had been firmly pushed away.
While the songs on the band's first outing were pretty ambitious for what they were, every one of these songs felt like passionless odes to nothingness across its runtime. From one track to the next, the flirtations with electronic instruments and Dan Reynold's crummy vocal delivery ends up neutering any good material that the band had lying around.
Even the drums (always a strongsuit for this band) can barely be discerned amongst the amount of processing its gone through in post-production.
Though this album would have been fine as just a little mishap, the fact that the radio and streaming services treated this album like the second coming of rock and roll made it feel all the more soulless upon further listens. If this is the future of rock we have to look forward to, we definitely we need someone else to come give rock (and these guys) a kick in the ass.
