10 Worst Hard Rock Albums Ever Made

5. America - 30 Seconds to Mars

It seems like a hundred years ago when 30 Seconds to Mars used to really kick ass. From their experimental beginnings to the grand scope of albums like A Beautiful Lie and This Is War, these guys were taking space rock in a bold new direction that seemed destined for superstardom. But once Jared Leto got Oscar buzz, any goodwill the band had going for it ended up being diminished.

That's not to say the frontman's work onscreen killed his music career, but even with the arrival of Suicide Squad in 2016, it seemed like Leto was high off his own ego and determined to turn in any old thing to sell tickets, whether it be for concerts or movies.

Though he may have some legitimate acting chops on him, America is one of the most lackluster albums of the 2010's, with Leto sounding like he's phoning in every single line that he sings.

Compared to the visceral shout you would typically get from Leto on songs like "From Yesterday," the tone of voice he has now is less focused on the scope of the song and more on the royalty check he's getting for advance orders of the album.

30 Seconds to Mars weren't necessarily in need of a shakeup, but never before has a band lost all of their creative gas in one fell swoop.
