10 Worst Hard Rock Cover Songs Of All Time

8. Kissin' Time - KISS

As the shock rock movement started to get underway, KISS were green and shocking audiences with every show. Brandishing three minute rock masterpieces, the all-conquering gods of the universe were ready to stomp out any of their competition with their 9 inch boots. The band's early records are practically a hodgepodge of greatest hits, but Kissin' Time is something that goes beyond just a filler track.

Originally a song written for a no-name pop rock act, the group's management thought it would be a good idea to include the song on the album as a sort of calling card. From the minute the song starts, you know something is drastically wrong, with most of the lyrics being a blatant rip off of Dancing in the Street. Even the members themselves were skeptical of taking this song on at first, but when compromising for their first record, they decided to give it a go for the sake of exposure.

Despite a decent solo from Ace Frehley in the bridge, Kissin' Time just sounds like these hard rock warriors are wasting time in the studio, grinning through their teeth as they try not to screw up the song and have to do it over again. KISS would take off their trademark makeup entirely by the start of the '80s, but somehow this one song still feels like the biggest break of character they have ever done.
