10 Worst Hard Rock Lyrics Of The 1970s
7. Big Balls - AC/DC
Worst Offender: "No one can take you higher, everybody says I've got great balls of fire."
You don't necessarily need to think all that hard when it comes to AC/DC songs. With over 4 decades of rock and roll under their belt, the music made by the Young brothers is practically down to a science with its fast riffs, strong backbeat, and lyrics full of thin innuendos. There's nothing really wrong with cut and dry lyrics, but "Big Balls" proves that there's a way to do it wrong.
Going back to the band's second international release Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, "Big Balls" is one of the most half-assed attempts at being clever in the entire AC/DC canon, with Bon Scott getting by with one of the most adolescent puns ever created. Though the song starts off pretending to be innocent with Scott talking about being a high class member of society, the veil is pretty much transparent once you decided to name your song "Big Balls."
For as much as the lyrics take a bit of a nose dive, the song still is a trademark AC/DC headbanger, with Malcolm Young still turning in a killer riff. Many more AC/DC songs would get dirtier (and lamer), but this second step up to the plate sounds like the band had the makings of a good song but decided to just call it a day after they heard a pun.
