10 Worst Hard Rock Lyrics Of The 2000s
3. She Hates Me - Puddle Of Mudd
Worst Offender: "She hates me/trust she f***in hates me/la la la la"
Plenty of new subgenres of rock were able to push rock forward in the '00s, but post-grunge surely wasn't one of them. Rather than building up something entirely new, many bands were trying to make their millions off of following the Nirvana model or aping the yarl vocals that Eddie Vedder made famous. There's no real scale for how bad the scene got, but Puddle of Mudd certainly represents a low point.
Under the blessing of Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, Wes Scantlin and his band were able to pump out their widely successful major-label debut, which contained the travesty of rock music known as "She Hates Me." It's no secret that grunge had to do with teen angst, but given the lyrics about this man's former lover being so "grand," it's hard to really see him in a positive light.
This song was really trying to sell all those angry emotions that come with a breakup, but it goes too aggro that you start to think whether this "she" is actually better off for ditching this dude. Puddle of Mudd might not be the worst band in the world, but with a start that was this bland and half-assed, it's not like they were on their way to legendary status either.
