10 Worst Hard Rock Lyrics Of The '90s
5. Anyone Can Play Guitar - Radiohead
Radiohead is by far one of the most interesting acts that the '90s ever spit out. When the mantle of grunge fell towards the beginning of 1994, these English rockers pumped out some of the best alternative rock on albums like the Bends and OK Computer. However, there's also a side of Radiohead that most fans don't really care to revisit too often.
Long before they were blowing you away with emotional music, the band's debut Pablo Honey showed them trying to ride the grunge train with songs like "Creep." Though the foundation of their first hit doesn't have too much wrong with it, "Anyone Can Play Guitar" is one of the dumber things the band had written, with lyrics that just paint the picture of a teenage kid with stars in his eyes. It's a great concept, but the actual results are less in the "Juke Box Hero" mold and more like the vivid daydream of the stoner in the back of class.
The only problem was the song was that it's catchy as all hell, which led to the lyrics getting stuck in your head whenever you came across it in the wild. To see the toll it took on the band, look no further than their MTV performance of the song, where Yorke goes crazy and is absolutely furious for having to sing this damn song one more time. This was definitely a shaky start, but Radiohead would prove they could do far better just a few years later.
