10 WORST Metallica Songs Ever
6. Attitude - Reload
The late 90's were so very cruel to the metal world. As nu metal started to take off and embarrass itself in the process, Metallica found themselves in a bit of a tailspin coming off of the contentious album Load. Though the followup Reload did offer a bit of a course correction, some of those experimental habits do die hard.
While nothing on this record is as different as what the band had done on Load, "Attitude" is by far the most forgettable song in Metallica's catalog. Complete with a typical open string riff, this song doesn't offer up any new avenue, which is a bit disconcerting considering the band's tendency to switch it up with nearly every other tune.
For the most part, fans tend to give this album a pass because of songs like "Fuel" or "The Unforgiven II," but that's no excuse for having a song this hollow in the band's discography. There's a theory that taking the best parts of Load and Reload would have made for a great single release, but this song is one that deserved to be left on the cutting room floor. Even compared to the more outlandish tunes across the band's sell-out period, this is Metallica by numbers that only the hardcore fans would want to listen to.
