10 WORST Metallica Songs Ever
2. The View - Lulu
It was a great day when Metallica was finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. It had been a long time coming for metalheads and proof that even the heaviest of musical genres were able to reach the rock masses. While it was equally awesome to see the band at the Hall of Fame anniversary concerts with Ozzy Osbourne, something horrible started to gel once the band started talking to Lou Reed.
Wanting to bring their disparate styles of rock together, both rock legends got together to make Lulu, whose mix of spoken word poetry and metal riffs is one of the worst experiments gone wrong in music history. Any cut off the record could have made this list, but "The View" is a good look at everything wrong with this record.
The actual Metallica instrumentation sounds really good, but when paired with the warbly voice of Reed, the song becomes a caricature of someone trying to be "artsy." Both of these artists work great apart, but once they were put together, there was no limit to the amount of music they could tarnish. With James' screams of "I AM THE TABLE" becoming a meme at this point, there's no question as to why this song ranks so high on this list.
