10 Worst Music Collaborations Of All Time
9. Eminem/Ed Sheeran
Eminem has built up a reputation as being one of the most dangerous MC's in the rap game. Despite putting his foot in his mouth on many occassions, the work that he has put in on albums like the Slim Shady LP and the Marshall Mathers LP showed us that this was an artist that was not to be messed with. So how about we take one of the most infamous shock rappers of all time and pair him with...one of the sappier pop songwriters in music today.
That's not to discount Ed Sheeran as a writer either, with some of his wistful acoustic ballads being perfect for that style of music. However, if you're going for something that blends the ugliness of Eminem and the cleanliness of pop, you'll need to try a lot harder than something like River. Throughout this song, it doesn't really feel like Sheeran is really playing off of Eminem, almost as if his part was copy and pasted in from a completely different song.
While this song could have been made at least a little better from a few decent bars, Em has slowly delved into dad joke territory, going so far as to include an actual laxative joke when talking about his ex. Both of these men have done plenty of good work elsewhere, and it's probably better if they stay far away from each other on any future projects.
