10 Worst Number One Rock Albums Of The 1980s

7. Hi Infidelity - REO Speedwagon

REO Speedwagon are responsible for some of the soppiest power ballads in all of '80s rock, which is really saying something. One of their biggest offenders has a home on their 1980 album Hi Infidelity; the karaoke classic, Keep on Loving You.

Despite being cheesier than a Sunday farmer's market, '80s music fans absolutely loved Keep on Loving You, sending it to the top of the singles charts. A similar fate befell Hi Infidelity, which enjoyed three separate spells as America's best-selling album, totalling 15 weeks of chart dominance.

This was yet another example of a band cracking the secret to radio success by following a strict set of guidelines. REO Speedwagon needed a big hit with this album, and that's precisely what they got. Whilst some of the songs on Hi Infidelity get a little bit interesting, you can tell this was a record largely designed to cash cheques.

Still, for anyone who grew up with this record in the early '80s, Hi Infidelity remains a firm favourite. However, if you didn't like it at the time, chances are slim that you'll have changed your mind in the years since.
