10 Worst Number One Rock Albums Of The 1980s

6. Fore! - Huey Lewis And The News

Nobody tell Patrick Bateman, because the album with Hip to Be Square on it has not performed well.

Fore!, which was, shockingly, Huey Lewis and the News' fourth studio album, found itself as the number one album in America for a single week in 1986, thanks to singles like Stuck with You and the aforementioned favourite of the American Psycho.

These standouts help keep Fore! (the exclamation mark is very important) from being higher up this list, but outside of the big songs you know and love, there's not much else to get excited about.

Whilst nobody has ever thought of Huey Lewis and the News as musical innovators, this album is full of songs that tow the line so tightly, it makes you wonder if they were written by AI decades before that became a meme.

Hip to Be Square will always be fun, and the international edition of this album did contain The Power of Love from Back to the Future, but Fore! will forever carry the mantra of being a fun album, but not a particularly great one.

Fingers crossed Christian Bale never reads this review.
