10 Worst Number One Rock Albums Of The 1990s
7. Nine Lives - Aerosmith
Despite being more heavily associated with the 1970s, the decade in which they formed, Aerosmith didn't achieve their first US number one until 1993.
In fact, they've only had two number ones over all, both of which came in the 90s. Some people are late bloomers, and that's more than ok.
'93's Get a Grip was succeeded by 1997's Nine Lives, an album with a very distressed-looking cat on the front cover. This furry friend wasn't the only one in distress, as rock critics didn't take too kindly to the Boston Bad Boys' latest efforts.
The songs on Nine Lives came under fire for a number of reasons, including not being catchy enough, being too schmaltzy, and for including enough cheap innuendos to make a teenage boy say "that's enough now".
For all these faults, there are some bright spots on the record. Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees) and Pink are sleazy fun, which is what Aerosmith is all about really, but that's about it.
The 90s might have been a profitable period for these legends, but creatively, several of their Nine Lives had run out.
