10 Worst Rock Band Member Replacements

6. Ray Wilson Replaces Phil Collins - Genesis

Whilst most bands would jump at the chance to have one legendary singer in their ranks, Genesis can claim two of them as part of their alma mater.

First up was Peter Gabriel, who led the group through their successful days as a prog act between 1967 and 1975. Then, when Petey went off to do his own thing, drummer Phil Collins stepped up to fill the position, heading up Genesis' transformation into a more mainstream rock act.

But who came after Phil? Who had the unfortunate task of following two of the greats? Sadly, that hefty task fell to Mr. Ray Wilson.

Wilson had been the frontman of Scottish grunge group Stiltskin before he got the phone call from Genesis HQ in 1996. He appeared on one album, ...Calling All Stations..., which was roundly thumped by the musical press, before the band retired from full-time performing in 2000.

Well done, Ray, you just killed Genesis.

There was no way Wilson was ever going to stand up to such giants, but at least his time in the firing line was relatively short.

Thank Heavens for small mercies, eh?
