4. Justin Bieber - "Children"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkjwn240AMc Come on, Biebs. I know people used to give you a lot of guff for your lightweight musical output, but most of us are aware that you're a pretty competent musician who just doesn't have a whole lot to say. And that's
fine. Not every song has to be super substantial in the lyrics department. Which is why it pains me to say that this song, which obviously is meant to have one of those super duper important messages, is even worse than the fluff you put out as a teenager. Come on, man, you're not
this bad. Are you doing this on purpose? "Children" starts off like a song parody that's not in on the joke, with Bieber singing about the vague idea of helping children while sounding as if he just finished a long shift as a phone sex operator and doesn't know how to turn it off right away:
"What about the children?Look at all the children we can change"
I know this is supposed to be one of those inspirational "We Are the World" kind of songs, but this comes off pretty desperate. And the extra EDM assistance from Skrillex couldn't sound more out of place if it was being blasted at Aretha Franklin's funeral. It's not just bad. It's laughably bad.
