10 Worst Villains Of Rock And Roll Music
3. Marilyn Manson
Once rock and roll reached the '90s, everyone seemed to have a pretty high tolerance for a good shock. Ever since the '70s, we had gotten used to the gender bending of David Bowie, the theatrics of KISS, and even the straight up weirdness coming from the glam rock movement of the late '80s. Even with all that prep though, nothing could have prepared us for the heinous acts coming when Marilyn Manson arrived at out doorstep.
Whereas Alice Cooper may have been looked at as a sinister figure back in the '70s, Marilyn was the first of his kind to feel truly evil, with the videos for songs like Get Your Gunn being disturbing the minute that you watched them. It's not like this was just a gimmick either, with Manson stirring up controversy wherever he saw fit, whether it was making claims to have been a preacher in a Satanist church or making a pseudo fascist stage setup for his album Antichrist Superstar.
Then again, the act starts to get a little bit too real in the past few years when he was accused of sexual misconduct with a bunch of his former ex girlfriends, which turned his gross factor up a few more notches than what is commonly acceptable. Although he claims to this being one big experiment in shock value, there is a moment where the realm of shock rock goes too far, and we're well ast that here.
